I want to fly my drone with the front LEDs turn OFF. Can I still control the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device?

Yes. You can use the drone rotation to command the Drop Wheel and the AUX Channel (the AUX Channel exists on the PLUS models only).

Why do I need the Manual Operation of the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device?

To allow for simple one finger command directly from the device without using the drone’s remote controller. You will also find this feature handy when verifying the operation of the electric device that is connected to the AUX Channel (PLUS models only) while on the ground and before takeoff.

Do I need to turn off any of the drone sensors when using the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device?

No. The Sensors Interference Avoidance System (SIAS) prevents interference with the operation of the DJI drone VPS sensors.
All VPS sensors of the DJI Mavic AIR, DJI Mavic PRO, DJI Phantom 4 and DJI Phantom 3 will operate normally.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
To prevent payload interference with the drone’s sensors we strongly recommend the use of the original Drone-Sky-Hook Braided Drop Cord, Fail-Safe Drop Cord or other Drone-Sky-Hook accessories.

Will I suffer any interference when the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device is installed on my drone?

No. Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop devices were specifically engineered and designed specifically to complement and enhance the DJI drones. All the drone features like video downlink, antennas, compass sensors, GPS, WiFi, VPS sensors and others will operate normally. The small size and lightweight of the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop devices and Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop PLUS devices allow you to keep the device installed on the DJI drone even when not in use.

Do I have to use the front LED sensor cover?

No. If you prefer to fly with both front lights visible or with no lights, then you can control the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop devices by the yawing (rotating) your drone. The Drone-Sky-Hook Front LED Sensor Assembly can be easily removed without tools and without cutting the sensor wires. Just disconnect the Front LED Sensor Assembly plug from the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device and easily slide off the LED sensor cover from your DJI drone.

How many release & drop operations can be done with a single charge of the Drone-Sky-Hook device battery?

Each Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device can perform over 200 carry & drop operations on a single battery charge. The built-in remaining battery capacity indicator light on the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop devices allows you to fly with confidence. We recommend that you fully charge your Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device battery before going out on a new adventure.

How do I connect the drop cord to the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device?

Simply hang the steel ring of the Braided Drop Cord or the Fail-Safe Drop Cord on the Drop Wheel hook and you’re ready to takeoff. This can be easily done with one hand and no tools are necessary. All Drone-Sky-Hook products and accessories utilize steel ring for easy hookup and release of your payload.

Is it safe to fish with a drone?

Combining the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device with the Fail-Safe Drop Cord makes the drone fishing operation as safe as possible. If the fishing line gets tangled or the reel jams, the Fail-Safe Drop Cord automatically disconnects the fishing line from the drone, keeping your drone in the air safe and dry! IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not overload your DJI drone with heavy or bulky payloads that it cannot safely carry.

Is it allowed to release or drop items from drones?

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) refers to that matter under: Part 91 GENERAL OPERATING AND FLIGHT RULES Sec. 91.15 Dropping objects."No pilot in command of a civil aircraft may allow any object to be dropped from that aircraft in flight that creates a hazard to persons or property. However, this section does not prohibit the dropping of any object if reasonable precautions are taken to avoid injury or damage to persons or property." Drone Sky Hook strongly recommends that you follow all laws and regulations in your area, closely check your surroundings prior to takeoff and keep away from civilians, properties, trees, buildings electric poles etc. Drone Sky Hook shall not be responsible and assume no liability for any loss, damage or injury.

What is the maximum range for the operation of the Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device?

The maximum range is unlimited. It is the same range as your DJI drone range. You will be able to operate Drone-Sky-Hook Release & Drop device as long as you have control over your DJI drone.
